How to use an Etsy Mini & install it into WordPress or Blogger

An Etsy Mini is a tool you can use on your blog or personal website to display listings from your Etsy shop or items you’ve added to your Favourites. It’s a great way to provide a professional looking window into your Etsy shop from your website or blog. No matter where you place the code, your Etsy Mini will continuously update when you list/renew items in your shop, keeping it fresh and up to date.

An Etsy Mini can be small, to fit in the sidebar of your blog, large to take up a whole page, or fill the space underneath a page/post.

You can make the grid as small as 1 single Etsy listing, or as large as a 5×5 grid of listings. You can choose from thumbnail size to gallery size, making it a very flexible tool to fit into almost any website space.

To build your Etsy Mini go to Your Shop and finding the Etsy Mini link under the “Promotions” section on the left side of the page. Or simply click this link.

It will take you to this page:

Once you have selected “items from my shop” a tick box will appear allowing you to choose if you would like to feature your shops “featured items” first. If you don’t tick this box then your Etsy mini will always display your most recently listed items first. If you do tick the box your shops featured items (the items selected to show at the top of your shop page) will appear in your etsy mini first too. This is a great way to showcase your best work, however it means the first 4 listings of your etsy mini will not change unless you manually update your featured listings.

As you make selections in the Etsy Mini builder it will show you an example of how it will look. Once you are satisfied with the way your Etsy Mini looks, copy the code and paste it into the HTML of your blog or website.

To place your Etsy Mini on a WordPress site

  • Etsy Mini in a Post or Page

Paste the code into any page or post you would like to use it in. Remember to select the “text” tab, as opposed to the “visual” tab. The Etsy Mini will no appear in the Visual tab wile you are making your new post/page, but if you select “preview” or “publish” you will be able to see it on your website.

  • Etsy Mini in a sidebar or footer

In your WordPress dashboard select “Appearance” then “Widgets” find the “Text” widget (Arbitrary text or HTML) and drag to where you would like to display your Etsy Mini (Blog sidebar or Footer widget) Paste the Etsy Mini HTML code here and click “Save”Check that your Etsy Mini fits in the place you have selected for it. If it doesn’t fit go back to the Etsy Mini Builder and rebuild it to fit. Copy and paste the new code into your widget again until it looks right.

Paste the code into any page or post you would like to use it in. Remember to select the “html” view, as opposed to the “compose” view. The Etsy Mini will no appear in the Visual tab wile you are making your new post/page, but if you select “preview” or “publish” you will be able to see it on your website.

  • Etsy Mini in a sidebar or footer

From your Blogger Overview page select “layout” then “add a gadget” in the place you would like to add your etsy mini from the layout template. find the “HTML/JavaScript” Gadget and Paste the Etsy Mini HTML code in the content box then click “save”. You can now drag this new gadget around your layout page to chose where to display it. Check that your Etsy Mini fits in the place you have selected for it. If it doesn’t fit go back to the Etsy Mini Builder and rebuild it to fit. Copy and paste the new code into your Gadget again until it looks right.

If you are not using WordPress or Blogger to build your site you will need to check the help section of your blogging service or consult your web designer for how to alter the code of your site and input your Etsy Mini HTML
